How much does ecommerce bookkeeping cost?
Ottit's plans are flat monthly retainers: Cash Basis from $595 a month, Accrual from $995 a month and Controllership & Fractional CFO from $5,995 a month. The price depends on transaction volume, the number of sales channels and entities, and whether prior months need catch-up work.
Do you work with QuickBooks Online or Xero?
Both. Most of our clients run QuickBooks Online; Xero is common with brands that started outside the US. We connect either to Shopify and Amazon through Bookkeep for payout-level detail.
Cash basis or accrual?
Brands under about $1M in revenue are usually fine on cash basis. Once inventory, subscriptions or pre-orders are material, accrual is the only way the profit and loss tells the truth, and it is what lenders and investors expect.
How do you handle Shopify payouts?
Each payout is split into gross sales, discounts, refunds, processing fees, sales tax and adjustments, and matched to the bank deposit. The result is revenue and fees recorded on the order date, not the deposit date.
Can you clean up prior months first?
Yes. Catch-up and clean-up work is scoped separately after the health check, then the monthly plan starts from clean balances.
